I’m a summer girl at heart. Always have been, always will be. But there are a few things that make transitioning into colder weather a tad more inviting – chai lattes and pumpkin spiced lattes, filling your wardrobe with all the hottest new boots and jackets from the high street, watching a box set under a massive blanket with the fire on, leaves in shades of red, orange and rust making the perfect backdrop for a quick on-the-go Instagram snap, and sampling all the latest makeup launches by my favourite beauty brands and picking the best products to add to my collection.
.So when NYX invited a few of us beauty aficionados to try their new A/W spoils, I was on the tram to the massive Boots store in Manchester to meet with the team before you could even say ‘Lip Lingerie’! The event was refreshingly casual, down-to-earth and low-key. Just a group of girls doing what they love best – sitting around a table eating chocolate and sampling makeup. It was really personal and intimate, like having my girlfriends round on a weekday night.
The lovely Charlotte from the NYX team used some of their hot launches and die-hard customer faves to create easy eye looks on each of the girls. I opted for a hybrid of grey, brown and nude eye that was smoky, but smoky enough to be office inappropriate.
.If you’re after a more intense, bronze smokey eye like Charlotte’s you might want to try a few of the other nudey-bronzey hues they recommend for this season. Grab ahold of any of their Hot Singles Eyeshadows in Heat, Sex Kitten, Flustered, Showgirl, Addiction, Sin, Guilt Trip, Suede, Top Notch or Raven and use a little bit of tape to get your edges razor sharp like Charlotte’s. Follow this tutorial if you’re not sure where to start.
.Here’s a little tip I learned from her – to add extra staying power to your smokey eye, always lay the foundation with a waterproof eyeshadow base. Your shadow won’t budge for hours! Another handy little trick to make your shadow really pop is to dab a bit of white eyeshadow base in the centre of your lid before applying shadow, to really make the light allover colour stand out. You can also dot a bit on the inner corner of your eyes to open them up and make you look wide awake.
Another one of my favourites was their Glide-On Pencil in Golden Bronze which looks both, sultry and festive at the same time when smudged out along the upper and lower lashlines.
.As for scrumptious yet office-appropriate fall/winter lip hues? Copenhagen from their Soft Matte Lip Cream range has my vote hands down, with Transylvania, Madrid and Prague following shortly after. Also, their Jumbo Lip Pencil in Burgundy is deliciously sheer, smooth and moist whilst packing a punch of colour.
