Okay, so I don’t want to jinx anything by saying this, especially since I’ve had a tough summer, but so far, I’m having the best Autumn ever! I started a Youtube channel, had the best Halloween of my life, am flying through my Autumn bucket list and my social calender is fuller than ever (concerts, parties, weddings – you name it, I’m there!)
However, dressing for all of these events can sometimes be a tad challenging. I mean, I’ve never really been to a winter wedding before – how’s a girl to look chic and sophisticated without freezing her arse off? What does one wear to a birthday party when its colder and darker than ever in the middle of January? Don’t even get me started on the dress code for a masquerade ball.
Fortunately, this is when another one of my favourite Autumnal events comes into play – BLACK FREAKING FRIDAY. Not only is it a great opportunity to buy advance Christmas presents for friends and family, but you can FINALLY score all the drool-worthy new-season bits you’ve had saved on your Pinterest wishlist board since way back in August.
Here are a few pieces I’m treating myself to this Black Friday from one of my favourite Manchester-born stores, Pretty Little Thing.
Emerald Green Evening Dress
This dress is a strong contendor for what to wear to that winter wedding. I love that the colour is so season-appropriate, but also festive and feminine without being boring black or navy. I also love how flattering the silhouette is and that with its long sleeves and some black tights, I’d be nice and toasty, even without copious amounts of mulled wine. I’d dress it up a little more with gold layered necklaces or gold earrings to make it pop.
Black Faux Fur Coat
Nothing feels as glamorous as a faux fur this time of year and I can see myself constantly reaching for a black faux fur coat to dress up a boring daytime outfit or to add a dose of glamour to an evening outfit, instead of covering it up with a boring jacket. And can you just imagine how good would it look with the little green dress at the wedding? I’m salivating just thinking about it.
Parties can sometimes be a bit tricky if you’re meeting new people you may not have a lot in common with and aren’t quite sure how to get the conversation flowing. Which is why, my fail-safe trick is to pick a statement item that people are sure to comment on, striking up an easy conversation. This year, I’m all about these wicked animal printed boots to do all my dirty work for me. Bonus – they’d also fit right in at a concert.
Only about EVERYTHING from Contour Cosmetics
I discovered Contour Cosmetics earlier this year and have been wanting to treat myself to some of their gorgeous makeup ever since. Luckily, treat yoself time is finally here, so now the only decision I need to make is whether I want the contour palette, highlight palette, eyeshadow palette or lip kit more. Ah, screw it! I’ll get em all! I mean, just look at how pretty the Aphrodite palette is! It’d make such a great present for a friend, too!
One of the more sensible, grown-up buys I’m going to invest in is definitely a timeless camel coat. My Pinterest has a board full of impeccably dressed French women styling it in a million different ways, that I feel like I’d suffer from major fashion FOMO if I didn’t own one immediately, too! Welcome to my wardrobe, bae.
Boots I Can Actually Walk In
I’m going to be honest with you. Now that Im older and wiser, I’ve realized I’m tired of being the girl clinging on to her hub’s arm because she can barely walk in her shoes on a date night. Not cute and NOT classy. Instead, I’m opting for these bad boys that are sexy and edgy as hell, and I can actually get home unsupported, without aching feet. WIN!
The Oversized Shirt Dress
Oh, Effy Shirt Dress! How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. For starters, I can actually fit a thick jumper underneath you in the winter months! And if that wasn’t reason enough, you also look bangin’ with my OTK boots and cute AF as an oversized shirt with leggings and flats to run errands in. You tick all the boxes hun, and I’m all bout that life. Y’ know what they say, if you like it, buy it in every colour! 😉
