#OOTD Reinventing the Humble Jeans and Tee

Jeans and t-shirts. They just go together, don’t they? A little package deal – like macaroni and cheese, vodka and diet coke and Jay-Z and Beyonce. Problem is, I’ve never been much of  jeans and t-shirt kinda gal. They’ve always been a bit too casual for me and it always seemed inherantly wrong to split the two up.

Whenever I think of tshirts, I have bad flashbacks to my college days where girls wore them with jeans, trainers, backpacks and baseball caps. All together in one incredibly butch outfit. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of those pieces (catch me wearing 3 out of 5 together in one look here), but what makes them more fun for me, is picking 1 or 2 of them and mixing them in with more feminine pieces like a skirt, dress or heel. Or with more formal pieces like a peg trouser or blazer.

Its common knowledge that jeans and tshirts never go out of style. However, they’ve both undergone a massive reinvention in 2017. Denim went and got shredded, patched, embroidered and pearl embellished while tees got cheekier than ever with out-there feminist slogans and flashy brand logos reminiscent of the 90’s.

In fact, lately, I’ve been addicted to denim A-line shirts as opposed to jeans and have been pairing my tshirts with them, leather jackets, fishnets and boots for a look that is sexy, edgy and feminine, but still pays homage to its humble jeans and tee roots.

I’m also looking forward to re-styling this cheeky Chocolate tee by SheIn with some black high waist trousers, a blazer and some strappy heels for a work gathering later this month.

How have you been styling your tshirts recenty? Share your ideas with me in the comments below! See you at the next post!
