Remember me? Its been a while, huh? I can’t believe I haven’t blogged since December and haven’t updated my Instagram in three weeks! But sometimes, a girl just needs a break to catch up on all the crazy things happening in her life. Here’s everything that went down since the last time you heard from me.
- I was back home in India for a month for a friend’s wedding
It was in Goa and one of the most amazing weddings I’ve ever been to! We danced, drank, ate some fantastic food and made loads of new friends. Getting to see James all dressed up in a full Indian outfit, looking like an absolute prince was just the icing on the cake! When I got back to Mumbai, I spent a lot of time with my mom handling a few family affairs, seeing my friends and working on some exciting projects that are in the pipeline (if I were you, I’d stay tuned for the next post!)
- My blog was under maintenance
If you’ve tried to log onto the website since December, you may have noticed the layout looking a little messy. Its still not entirely finished but we’re working on it. We had a few technical difficulties that we resolved, only to be met with more technical difficulties that were a little harder to fix in addition to co-ordinating this over 4000+ miles, busy schedules on different continents and a 5.5hr time difference that really isn’t a walk in the park.
- I got back to the UK and started a new job
Great news, right? Its actually an internship (it turns out moving countries often means starting your career over from scratch, but more on that in another blog post) at Smart Works Greater Manchester, an organisation that supports women into employment by providing them with styling advice, interview coaching, and a brand new outfit so they slay at their interview! I absolutely love it because in addition to doing a little bit of everything like planning events, handling their social media, coming up with marketing ideas, manning the front desk, meeting new clients, interviewing other interns, organising the styling suite, etc. I get to style the clients, meet the most interesting, inspiring women and make a difference to so many lives. Fashion as an industry can sometimes be a bit shallow, which is why I love that this job adds so much depth and meaning to clothes. Watching the client’s faces light up when they see themselves in a sharp skirt suit or a crisp shift dress and heels for the first time is probably one of the most rewarding parts of the job. It kind of helps that the people I work with are fantastic, too!
- I fell ill for a while over Christmas
While Christmas was wonderful, it was also a tad stressful as I was dying to be social and enjoy all the festivities, but was bogged down with a cold, sore throat and a fever that led to infected glands and conjunctivitis. Not attractive. Some killer Christmas presents softened the blow though – I was treated to a stunning Hollywood dressing table mirror by James which is probably my favourite present of all time! Not to mention loads of makeup, perfume, new makeup brushes, fashion books, little decorative objects for around the house, a gorgeous dress and bag for NYE and a Diptyque candle that has been on my list for ages!
- We went to the most amazing NYE party
With about 15 friends in tow, we went to the sort of NYE party I’ve dreamed about since I was a little girl. Classy, sophisticated and stylish, the theme was New York, New York and the dress code was black tie / red carpet so I wore a sheer, glittery silver gown and James wore a suit and bow tie. We ate the most delicious five-course meal and drank tonnes of champagne! I danced on stage with the girls, rode bumper cars and shared a kiss with James at midnight. It was perfection!
- January is confusing
January is one of those months where it is SO cold (think between 0 and 4 degrees celsius) that all you want to do is hibernate indoors after work and watch Netflix. However, it is also when most restaurants offer 50% off food, so you kinda have to force yourself out of the house to take advantage of the great offers. Its also difficult because most people’s resolutions are to cut back on unnecessary spending, eat healthy and exercise. So while we’re eating clean most days and going to my zumba classes, its hard not to splurge on the January food offers and the amazing clothing sales! I feel like there’s an angel on one of my shoulders and a devil on the other one who are constantly at war, telling me to be good and bad at the same time! Argh!
That’s basically all that we’ve been up to in the past month. Its time for me to buckle down and get back into blogging regularly from now on. Its always a bit of an adjustment having to blog when you start a new job, but I learned my lesson the last time and won’t become complacent in 2017.
I’m looking forward to sharing a lot of the postsI already have banked, content I’ve never gotten round to sharing, as well as new collaborations and exciting adventures in the new year. Also, lots more beauty content that I’m quite excited about. Is there anything in particular you’d like to see? Share it with me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or over social media. I’m, ‘bombaybubbe’ on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram. See you at the next post!
