Afternoon Tea With Country Attire

There’s a lot of very British things I’ve discovered I love since I moved to this country – cider, gin and tonic, full English breakfasts, trench coats and long walks in the countryside with your dogs to name a few. But my most favourite British tradition of all time has got to be Afternoon Tea. There’s nothing I love more than sitting round a table with my girls sipping on tea and champagne and tasting dainty little sandwiches and cakes over a good old fashioned ‘chin-wag’.

However, if there was a way to make this wonderfully ladylike activity even more perfect, it would be to combine it with a dose of style. So when Country Attire, a brand that houses iconic British brands like Barbour, Vivienne Westwood, Ted Baker and Hunter among others from around the world, invited me to an Afternoon Tea they were hosting to celebrate their tenth anniversary, I did what any self-respecting fashion girl would – RSVP’d yes with a plus one and immediately bought a new outfit for the occasion.

My friend, Bron, a fellow fashion girl who moved across the world for love, and I met up on a typical rainy Saturday in Manchester and made our way over to Propertea, a charming little restaurant specializing in Afternoon Tea, located in the beautiful Manchester Cathedral where the event was being held.

We were greeted warmly with glasses of champagne and led over to a display of gorgeous jackets, boots and bags which we “Oooh-ed”, “Aah-ed” and planned our wish lists around accordingly.

I was eyeing up a couple of gorgeous bags from Ted Baker, the dreamiest Vivienne Westwood backpack ever from the latest collection, a stunning pair of Hunter wellies to walk Poppy and Millie in and a Barbour jacket that looked so warm and inviting, I could see myself disappearing into it all winter long.

We chatted among ourselves, were introduced to the Country Attire team, got to know a few other bloggers and participated in mini social media activities the brand had organised while we picked and chose among red velvet and chocolate cupcakes. Talk about being spoiled for choice!

Sadly, it wasn’t long before our delightful afternoon came to an end and it was time to head back out into the rain to find a place to continue the rest of the evening.

The icing on the cake was getting to leave with a generous goodie bag filled with a Barbour beach bag, some Hunter socks, a scarf and loads of other little treats I loved! Thanks for having us, Country Attire, and for knowing exactly what a girl needs to get out of bed and out and about on a rainy day – tea, champagne, cakes, clothes, bags and shoes! 😉
